Our Beliefs

The Bible

We believe that all scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. We believe that the Bible in its entirety is the inspired Word of God who moved by His Spirit on the hearts and minds of men to write His Word which is without error. (2 Tim. 3:16)

God

We believe in one true God who eternally exists in three distinct persons (Father, Son & Holy Spirit).

God the Father

We believe that God the Father is the first person of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son & Holy Spirit). He never changes as He reigns over all created things with all knowledge, power, love & wisdom. (Gen. 1:1)

God the Son

We believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Holy Trinity. He is the only begotten Son of God & the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. He has created all things in heaven and on earth, visible & invisible. He is before all things, & in Him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:15-17)

God the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity. He convicts the lost of sin and their need for a Savior. He indwells every believer, convicting, guiding, teaching & encouraging them in the things of God. He also acts as seal, securing every true believer unto the day of redemption. (Psalm 51:10-11; John 14:26; 2 Pet. 1:21)

Man

We believe that man is created in the image of God, by God. Not only is every life created by God, every life is created in accordance with His purpose. However, through sin, man has fallen by disobeying God. Therefore, man is alienated from a Holy God, & totally incapable of returning to a right relationship with God by his own merit or works. (Gen. 1-3)

Salvation

We believe that Christ’s sacrificial atonement for the sin of the world through His death on the cross is the only basis upon which a person can receive forgiveness of sin & salvation. Salvation occurs when a person places his or her faith in the finished work of Christ. We believe that repentance accompanies genuine salvation. Repentance is turning to God and from sin. Those who turn from sin & to God through trust in Christ become children of God and heirs with Christ of the kingdom of God. (John 3:16-17; Romans 3:23, 6:23, 8:17, 10:9, 10:13)

The Christian Life

Every person is born, & every believer, born again for the purpose of bringing glory to God. The Christian grows by the reading and application of God’s Word to his or her life, and through sensitivity & submission to the indwelling Holy Spirit. Christians are not perfectly sinless people; only Jesus Christ lived a perfectly sinless life. However, there should be a progression toward Christ’s likeness in the life of the Christian as well as an increasing desire to bring Him glory through our thoughts, words, actions, attitudes & Christian service. (Phil. 2:13; Heb. 13:20-21)

The Church

We believe that the Church is the bride of Christ. He has given Himself to purify the Church that it may be pure and holy before Him. We further believe that the Church is the body of Christ of which He is the head and whose members are those saved by faith in Him through His grace. The local church is one expression of the Universal Church of Christ. Christ calls all members of His body to live together in unity & love. He also desires for all believers to worship & serve Him in the context of the body. (1 Cor. 12:12-27; Eph. 4:1-6, 5:25-27)
